Symptoms That Should Not Wait for an Appointment

Most urological problems can be dealt with in clinic. A few cannot, and they are worth knowing before you need them:

• Complete inability to pass urine with a painful, full bladder — acute urinary retention, which needs a catheter the same day
• Sudden severe testicular pain, particularly with nausea or a testis sitting higher than usual — possible testicular torsion, a surgical emergency where hours matter
• Fever with flank or back pain, shaking chills, or vomiting — a possible obstructed, infected kidney
• An erection lasting more than four hours — priapism, which causes permanent damage if left untreated
• Visible blood in the urine — not always urgent, but never something to watch and hope about, even if it clears on its own

Any of these means a hospital emergency department, not a clinic booking and not a message.

What Is Not Performed Here

Being clear about scope saves patients a wasted journey. HoLEP, PCNL, bladder Botox, sacral neuromodulation, mid-urethral sling and urethral bulking agents are not performed at Bangkok Hospital Headquarters, and TESA and PESA needle aspiration are not used.
