Use this page for general orientation and for the warning signs at the end, which apply whoever operated. <strong>This page describes aftercare for an adult.<\/strong> If you are caring for a child who has been circumcised, follow the instructions given for that child rather than these \u2014 the technique, the dressing, the wound care and the timings are all different in a child, and several of the sections below do not apply at all. In an emergency in Thailand, call <strong>1669<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Bleeding that soaks through the dressing<\/strong>, or that keeps coming after firm pressure has been held for ten minutes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Inability to pass urine<\/strong>, or a swelling that makes passing urine difficult.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Fever or shaking chills.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Spreading redness up the shaft, increasing swelling after the first couple of days, or discharge with an offensive smell<\/strong> \u2014 as opposed to the ordinary swelling and bruising that settle steadily.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>The head of the penis turning dusky, dark or cold<\/strong>, or becoming numb beyond the first day.
