Today it is a problem we can treat decisively. When tablets such as sildenafil or tadalafil no longer work, the <strong>inflatable penile prosthesis (IPP)<\/strong> \u2014 the penile implant \u2014 is the definitive option.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One word of precision before we go further, because it shapes everything else on this page: an implant is not a <em>cure<\/em>. It does not repair the erectile tissue; it replaces the mechanism, and in doing so it removes what was there. That is why it comes last in the sequence rather than first, and why the choice of device matters less than the choice to have the operation at all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the <strong>American Urological Association (AUA) 2026 meeting<\/strong> in Washington, DC, while shadowing <strong>Professor Mohit Khera<\/strong> \u2014 a global leader in sexual medicine \u2014 I attended a session where experienced implanters debated the modern generation of penile prostheses.
